For bid is an original 1922-1923 San Francisco, California advertising flier from the GLADDING, McBEAN & Company (roofing materials company) with a photograph and information about the famous CARMEL mansion home of D. L. JAMES at Carmel Highlands (Greene & Greene architects). This advertising sheet quotes an articles from the October 1922 issue of "THE ARCHITECTURAL RECORD" magazine. This is a famous Greene & Greene craftsman style house designed by Charles Sumner Greene (misspelled "Green" in the article). This is a one-sided sheet advertising / promoting the services of the Gladding, McBean & Company, Crocker Building, San Francisco. In 1922, Carmel-By-The-Sea was still known as a Bohemian arts community. This flier is printed on thick, fancy paper. Possibly printed on a local California small press for the company. It's in very good condition.
