    Description

    Offered is a dated 1939, 48pp. paper wrapper booklet issued by the National Tourist Board, San Jose, promoting travel to Costa Rica and entitled “Sightseeing in Costa Rica the Heart of the Americas”. It features a very attractive, artist-signed color cover depicting a village, a background of mountains, and a resident. The booklet contains many photographic illusions including the crater of the Poas Volcano, Lake Arsenal, a United Fruit Company steamer, a picture of two gentleman at the Continental Divide, the National Theatre, drying coffee, hotels in San Jose, Cocos Island and many more.
    There is a listing of railroads stations, a two page plan map of San Jose, two pages of historical data, customs information, aviation information, and hotel information with rates. At the back, there are fold-out maps (4 panels, 8 including the back) which depict railroad distances within specified points in the country, Costa Rica, and Costa Rica in relation to its neighbors.

    Condition: Very good, quite nice, with a diagonal fold at the bottom right of the cover, which is difficult to see.
