    Description

    A nicely-engineered and comparatively rare reduction tacheometer by Carl Zeiss, Jena, Germany together with its original fitted case.  Such instruments provided an accurate and reasonably reliable system for directly measuring distances without recourse to trigonometry, chaining etc.  They were particularly valuable where mapping difficult terrain.  Approx 30cm.
