Description

Custom 5.5" scale light-up 20th Anniversary TARDIS Console as seen in
The Five Doctors
(1983)
Greetings on behalf of the
3D Printing Doctor Who
project.
Our goal is to supplement the official 5.5" scale Character Options toy line with free articulated action figures that people can download and print at home (assuming they have access to a 3D printer). Since this is a non-commercial fan project, I normally don't allow my creations to be sold on eBay, but every few years I make an exception for some of the prototypes I test-printed along the way to developing my final designs. Most of these prototypes have at least one small thing wrong with them, which I will point out in the description below, but if you don't own a 3D printer and don't feel like paying an arm and a leg to use a print-to-order service, this is your only chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of custom Doctor who memorabilia.
All funds earned from these auctions get recycled back into the project to cover equipment and material costs to help bring you, the fans, even more free Doctor Who figures!
I will be listing about
60 items
from my collection of prototypes across the next few days, so please
check out my other auctions
. Once they're gone... they're gone, and there will be no more!
What You're Buying:
Print media:
Mostly PLA resin, central column printed in SLA resin.
Item description:
This TARDIS Console was built from the ground up to be 100% screen accurate (unlike some of the other models you can find online) and to incorporate internal lighting (
two
LED light strings!
). I poured over every schematic and behind the scenes set photo ensure that every single button is exactly where it's supposed to be, though as you can see, I didn't get around to fully painting it. This version comes with a resin printed internal time rotor, but it does have a bit of a printing defect where it curls up at the bottom. Still, it looks *way* better than the original filament-printed time rotor that I made first, which was an ugly blobby mess. The internal spring mechanism for the central column is a bit lopsided, so the central column lists slightly to one side. Also, I'm including a plastic coin storage container that's the right size for the glass part of the central column, but I'm not gluing it down, since this part comes with a rather noticeable ".00 China" printed on the top. If you want to swap it out with something nicer looking later, be my guest.
This is the only one of these light up consoles I have ever sold
, and the only reason I'm selling this one is because I plan on revisiting the design for resin printing, probably next year.
The Fine Print:
All figures are one-of-a-kind and sold "as is." While I will do my utmost to ensure your figure arrives in the same condition shown here, there is nothing I can do to repair or replace an item if it breaks. Be warned that these "action figures" are imperfect pieces of fan art intended for display purposes only and nowhere near as durable as the toys you regularly buy in stores. They can and will break it you aren't careful with them. If you plan on displaying the figure on a shelf you might want to try hot gluing the legs down (assuming it has legs) to a piece of cardstock or foamcore so it can't topple over in the middle of the night and take the rest of your collection with it.
Shipping:
Shipped with USPS First Class (US Residents) or USPS First Class International (Worldwide). Apologies in advance that postage is so high for U.K. residents, but consider it vicarious payback for all the times I've had to pay to ship a £12 figure set to the United States.
If you win multiple items, I will happily combine shipping. Just wait until all the auctions are over or request a total when you're ready to check out.
As a way of apologizing for the U.S. postal system and terrible $ to £ exchange rate, each package I send out will contain a super secret mystery bonus "figure" free of charge?
What sort of “mystery figure” can fit flat inside a tiny 2.25” x 3.75” envelope? You'll just have to wait to find out!
