, Goofy is the "Stupidicus Ultimas" type driver, who is nice enough, but is a menace on the road by neglecting maintenance on his car, often resulting in expensive breakdowns on the freeway. Take a look, the entire short can be seen on YouTube and elsewhere.
This production cel comes sealed in the original matte as sold by Disneyland's Art Corner circa 1966. This matted cel unit is in a white frame with a plastic cover as issued, and just as we received nearly 20 years ago. The overall visible image of the cel is 6¼ x 8¼ inches and all with frame 12 x 14 inches. You can see the Disneyland Art Corner Gold Seal of Authentication on the back in the scans. The scans also show various 1965 news releases and other publicity items.
Goofy's Freeway Troubles
(1965) is the last Goofy Series cartoon to be released in a theater during Walt Disney's lifetime. 1965 is also Pinto Colvig's final performance as Goofy's original voice after 33 years (except during the Disney strike from 1939-1941) beginning with Goofy's first appearance in
Mickey's Revue
(released May 12, 1932) as Dippy Dawg and in
The Whoopee Party
(September 17, 1932) as Goofy. Colvig passed away in 1967, two years after

(released February 13, 1965), but was released in its own right in theaters on September 22, 1965 as a short with similar focus on freeway safety. The 1965 pair are the 15th year update of the Goofy Series Short,
Motor Mania
(released June 30, 1950). While
Aquamania
was released on December 20, 1961, the next prior Goofy series theatrical short was
How to Sleep
, released 8 years earlier in December 25, 1953. It was not until 42 years after Disney's 1965
Goofy's Freeway Troubles
that the next theatrical short starring Goofy was produced.  That was released on December 21, 2007 for Goofy's 75th anniversary, and called
How to Hook Up Your Home Theater
. The Official Disney Fan Club website (D23) lists 49 theatrical series shorts starring Goofy. In addition,
Sport Goofy in Soccermania
, though originally planned for theatrical release, appeared only as a TV Special (May 27, 1987) and is considered by some to be the 50th Goofy Series short (though not released in theaters like the other 49).

Since there were no Goofy cartoon series produced for theaters from 1954 to 1960, nor from 1962 to 1965, nor afterwards until 2007; original cels of Goofy actually shown in theaters are quite scarce. While some later GoofTroop television cels are found, actual Goofy cartoon film cels are most difficult to locate and are missing from most collections of Disney characters. Fortunately, this one was available at the Disneyland Art Corner over fifty years ago.
