    60 Years of Woolworth
    Author:
    F. W. WOOLWORTH CO. HISTORY)
    Title:
    60 Years of Woolworth
    Publication:
    New York. F. W. Woolworth. 1939
    Description:
A history of the F. W. Woolworth chain of five-and-dime stores, tracing their origin dating to 1879 and culminating, in 1939, with headquarters in New York City's "Woolworth Tower," aka "The Cathedral of Commerce." Booklet 10 x 7 inches; 48 pp. Photo illustrated chapters (color and black and white) detail all aspects of Woolworth's operations while highlighting the vast variety of value-priced goods they offer to the public. One chapter discusses "How You Share in the Benefits Woolworth Brings to Your Town" when a new Woolworth store opens. In 1997 Woolworth's, for some time on the skids in the U.S., closed its remaining department stores. Light wear to cover extremities, including 1/4 inch chip to left edge of back cover; overall very good clean condition. A quiz at rear of booklet poses challenging questions for readers-directing them to the proper page in the booklet to find the correct answer. Two sample questions from the list: "How can you poach eggs and cook vegetables in the same pan?" and "What is Woolworth's belief about Santa Claus and how does it benefit you?" These questions (and answers) will haunt your dreams.
