Description

Used Gibson M6 octave guitar/mandolin in very good playing condition. Featuring an A-style mandolin body and octave-up guitar tuning, this instrument is perfect for guitarists who want those chiming mando tones without learning a whole new instrument, and for adventurous musicians of all ilks! The tiny frets take some getting used to, but this mando is very well made, super fun to play, and offers up those authentic Gibson bright and bell-like tones in spades. It also has an LR Baggs transducer pickup attached so you can plug into an amp or PA. Very cool! It's in good condition, with some normal cosmetic signs of play. Does not include a case/gig bag or other accessories, but check out our shop online or get in touch directly if you'd like to add anything to your order.

From Gibson:
"The M-6 is more than an octave guitar and more than a six-string mandolin,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp. “It’s a unique new voice for acoustic music – a sound that opens a new avenue of creativity for acoustic musicians.”
The M-6 is tuned an octave higher than a standard guitar, so that the high E-string matches the highest open string on a mandolin. Guitarists can get the tone of a mandolin without having to adapt to a different tuning. The M-6 has six single strings, however, instead of the double-strung configuration of the mandolin, which gives the M-6 its own unique sound.
