When I was in high school in Toronto, our pets were actors in shows like Kids in the Hall and Road to Avonlea.
Michael J. Dog appeared in a Kids in the Hall sketch called good grandpa. His job was to collect the poo from the ground and run away.

What makes the Kids in the Hall so special is that they put everything on the line in the late 1980s (pre-Ellen) and raised awareness about gay rights in an era where open hostility and discrimination was rampant. As progressive, supportive and open-minded people, we owe them a debt of gratitude.
