    Robert J. Foster of East St. Louis and O’Fallon IL (d. 1963) was considered by Gerald M. Best as “…the greatest locomotive photographer of our times from the standpoint of perfection of pose (and) sharpness of the image and lighting.”
    Robert Foster’s photographic works date from the mid-1930’s to the late 1950’s.
    From 1938 through 1956, Jerry Best developed all of Foster’s film.
