Description:
Fitzgerald, William Ogg (map illus).
Detroit. Chrysler Corporation. No date. Ca. 1934.
Brochure 9 x 4 inches that opens to a color pictorial "Historical and Instructive Map of Detroit" 17 3/4 x 16 inches. The brochure includes "What to See in Detroit and Vicinity"; "Some Delightful One-Day Tours"; a brief history of the city and several columns titled "Some Things You Will Want to Know About Detroit." Also, "The Story of Chrysler Corporation" and details regarding their various Detroit automotive plants. Of particular interest is the folded color pictorial map which covers aspects of history as well as present-day matters. Sites identified include the Bud, Brigge, Packard, Chevrolet, Marmon, Studebaker and Hupp plants, as well as all the Chrysler Corporation plants. Also depicted are the University of Detroit, the Fisher and G.M. buildings, the Chrysler Engineering Building, etc. The Detroit River and routes to Canada are also shown (Tunnel, Ferry, and Ambassador Bridge). Small paper loss to top edge of front cover; overall very good clean condition. The color map was made by William Ogg Fitzgerald, who also contributed "Some Highlights on the History of Detroit" to the publication. The map, brightly colored and informative, is afflicted with innumerable historical references to "Ye This" or "Ye That" which has the unfortunate effect of afflicting the viewer with "Ye headache."
