    Description

The Panama Canal as seen by Charles H. Owens of the Los Angeles Times Art Staff from a Special Military Airplane
    Author:
    PANAMA - PANAMA CANAL)
    Title:
The Panama Canal as seen by Charles H. Owens of the Los Angeles Times Art Staff from a Special Military Airplane
    Publication:
New York. Panama Railroad Company. 1925
    Description:
    Owens, Charles H. (illus).
Black and white pictorial bird's eye view style map, 27 1/2 x 44 inches, folded as issues, little light wear to edges when folded, 'Panama Canal' written on verso outer fold, overall very good condition. "Mr. Owens was the first civilian artist to fly over the Canal Zone. This bird's-eye view of the big canal, with its inserted sketches of the locks and interesting canal zone scenes is the result." An extremely detailed and absolutely fascinating bird's eye view map of the Panama Canal area, with many inset details of the workings of the canal and local sights. Clearly the accuracy of the map was deemed an important selling point as the endorsement from George W. Goethals the Consulting Engineer on the Canal suggests.
