Rare CBS TV Prop Award THE NEW DICK VAN DYKE SHOW - Dick's character Preston
Up for sale is a one of a kind CBS studio prop from THE NEW DICK VAN DYKE SHOW (1971-1974) starring Dick Van Dyke of course, as well as Hope Lange, Fanny Flagg, Nancy Dussault, Dick Van Patten and more.  This is a terrific piece from the show because it has Dick's character's name on it: DICK PRESTON.  His character was a writer and this was a prop "Critic's Literary Award" for journalism.  I believe the decorative border is hand drawn in ink and his name is hand printed.  The paper award is 8.25" x 10.75".  It's in a frame that is matted and is 17" X 14.5".  There is no glass in the frame and there's some aging to the paper and light wear to the matting.  This piece hung on set in his character's office.  The prop people were always clever whenever they could get away with it.  There are 2 original ink signatures on this prop. They were often crew people, other actors or inside jokes as well.  The signatures are CA HENNING and JOAN C WETMORE.  There was a working actress named Joan Wetmore--could be a salute to her.  It would be fun to investigate each one.  Again, this is a one of kind piece that reflects on a legendary television star..
*Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week.  If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again.  But most people will have a much shorter wait and some will have very fast shipping.  No one will have to wait more than 5 business days.  Thank you for understanding.
