Description
Andres Martin was a luthier in Madrid who built around 1000 instruments over the course of his career. He was born in 1911 and died in 1977, so it seems he was most active in instrument building and repair from the 1940’s up until his death. He is not one of the more “well-known” Madrid builders, but his instruments do have a following and have a good reputation in that world. This particular bandurria belonged to a family friend who toured the Americas in the 1960s and -70s with his band (
Los Trovadores de España)
before opting for a quieter life. Still, the bandurria was a favorite at parties and gatherings and was played through the 2010s.
