    Description

Vintage TRPQ 1939 Gitt's Dairy Orange Milk Bottle From Littlestown PA With Cap
    You are bidding on
an old Gitt's Dairy pyroglazed milk bottle and cap that was bottled in Littlestown, PA around 1939. This nice 9-1/2" high by 3-3/4" wide one quart bottle is decorated in front and back with the front having a "DIRECT FROM FARM" heading over a profile of a cow's head and underneath is GITT'S DAIRY. On the back is a representation of a farm and above "FARMER PRODUCER" with a milk truck going to the "CITY CONSUMER".
It comes with its heavy red and green cardboard cap reading "Gitt's Dairy, Quality Pasteurized Milk, Littlestown, PA". The cap is nice, stiff and clean.
The bottle is a beauty with no chips, nips or cracks. The orange lettering is very nice with a few little spots where the orange has faded.
A historical note: This dairy was located in Adams County, PA and was in bottling operation from the mid 30's until 1941. When WWII broke out Mr. Gitt traveled to Baltimore helping to build ships for the war effort. The cows remained on the farm (Penn Gate) but the bottling operation was shut down.
An extremely clean complete piece of Dairy Americana.
    Happy bidding!
