Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs original production Courvoisier Cel Setup featuring Doc, Bashful and Sneezy (Walt Disney, 1937). "Let me see your hands...march straight outside and wash, or you'll not get a bit to eat" says Snow White as seen right about the 41:32 mark of the film! An extraordinary production cel featuring three of Snow White's new friends hiding their dirty hands presented over a classic Courvoisier wood styled background!This cel is a Courvoisier setup with the original matboard. In the late 1930s, Walt Disney Studios was riding on a tidal wave of success. Guthrie Courvoisier, President of the highly esteemed Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco, was aware of Disney's escalating reputation. Guthrie believed that the Disney paintings on celluloid that were used to create Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs could be sold as valuable art pieces to the public through art galleries and museums all over the world. Guthrie believed that selling the cels exclusively through a respected art gallery would entice high-end collectors and museums, and that it would cement Disney's reputation as a respected figure in the art community.
A rare and incredible piece featuring large hand-painted figures...Doc measures about 4.5" with a matboard aperture of 7.5" x 9 1/2". Mat sold as-is with minor staining at bottom easily hidden when framed. The setup has the original Courvoisier authentication stickers on the back and the original tape. Note the handwritten data on back as well! The cel has typical minor curling from age. Overall condition is Very Good.
