Extremely rare hand-inked and hand-painted production cel.
Water Babies' Circus and Other Stories is a 1940 Disney storybook based on the 1935 Silly Symphony animated short, Water Babies.  This production cel was made in 1939 and the book came out the following year.
Painted by the Disney Ink and Paint Department, for the DC Heath Water Babies Circus and Other Stories book.  DC Heath was based in Boston, and did a series of Disney children's books, each one "Illustrated by the Walt Disney Studio."
The wonderful colors are due to the fact that actual nitrate cels were hand painted for the book's illustrations. A top cel was inked in black and a second cel had the hand-painted color.
Included with the original cel is an original print from the book.
Overall frame measures 16" x 11.75".
Each cel and original print opening measure about 6" x 4".
