    Description

Excellent illustration that was part of a 1939 ad for Kayser Hosiery - drawing is by Marcel Vertes
"Lady Relaxing" is the title that I gave it for this listing
Drawing from ad was mounted on 1/8" white foam board, then matted in gray
    Drawing size is 5" x 6 5/8"
    Mat size is a standard 8" x 10"
I wrote ad info and magazine date on back of foam board, as shown in photo with this listing
I also showed the entire ad that this illustration was cut from
Not a copy, nor were any other copies made. You are receiving the illustration trimmed from the ad, then matted in custom-cut mat
I'll place the matted illustration in a plastic sleeve, then add another piece of white foam board for stability
Mailing by USPS First Class in a bubble envelope.  I'll mail same day PayPal payment is received.
No additional mailing fees above listed price...
Following is some info on this artist / illustrator:
    (1895 - 1961)
    Marcel Vertes
An Academy Award winning costume designer for Moulin Rouge, easel and mural painter, illustrator and scenic artist, Marcel Vertes was born in Hungary.  His most active years professionally were 1933 to 1952, and he lived in both New York City and Paris.  Like many other artists, the devastation of the Second World War forced Vertes to move to the United States. Settling in New York his reputation as a great artist had been firmly established and he continued his fine work, most particularly in the field of book illustration. In New York, he was lauded for the original murals at the Cafe Carlyle in the Hotel Carlyle. Ten years later, he returned to his beloved Paris and spent the remaining years of his life there.  Vertes was a member of the American Art League, and under the sponsorship of the American Federation of Arts, his work traveled to museums across the country in a celebrity portrait exhibition, "As They Were".
